Không chỉ sở hữu khối tài sản đồ sộ cùng danh tiếng lừng lẫy trên thương trường, doanh nhân Hoàng Kiều còn là một tỉ phú tích cực làm từ thiện. Trong nhiều thập niên qua, ông thường xuyên về Việt Nam hỗ trợ và giúp đỡ rất nhiều hoàn cảnh khó khăn.
Ông Hoàng Kiều cho biết việc từ thiện vốn đã nằm trong dòng máu của gia đình mình. Từ xa xưa, dòng họ ông đã xem việc giúp đỡ cộng đồng như một phần trách nhiệm. Với lối sống được truyền từ đời này qua đời khác đã ảnh hưởng rất lớn đến tính cách của ông sau này.

“Việc làm từ thiện đã ở trong dòng máu của gia đình họ Hoàng chúng tôi. Ba tôi là nhạc sĩ Hoàng Thi Thơ khi qua đời vào ngày 22.9.2001 đã trăn trối là tất cả tiền phúng điếu cho đám tang của ông đều tặng cho nạn nhân vụ 11.9”, ông bộc bạch. Được biết, sở dĩ ông Hoàng Kiều gọi nhạc sĩ Hoàng Thi Thơ là “ba” vì nam nhạc sĩ đã cưu mang người cháu ruột của mình từ bé khi phải chịu cảnh mồ côi sớm.

Đồng thời, ông Hoàng Kiều cũng tiết lộ vị trí hiện tại trên thương trường sau nhiều năm sóng gió. Tỉ phú từng được tạp chí Forbes vinh danh cho biết hiện tại ông gặp nhiều nợ nần, danh xưng “tỉ phú” chỉ còn trong dĩ vãng.
“Trong những năm tôi làm từ thiện ở Việt Nam, tôi chưa trở thành tỉ phú, chỉ là “triệu phú của người nghèo”. Bây giờ, tôi nợ nần như chúa chổm, bị lọt khỏi danh sách 400 tỉ phú ở Mỹ. Từ một tỉ phú đứng thứ 148 với tài sản 3,8 tỉ USD, bây giờ nợ 3 tỉ USD và không còn là tỉ phú nữa”, ông Hoàng Kiều chia sẻ.

Tuy nhiên, doanh nhân gốc Việt vẫn duy trì và miệt mài làm từ thiện tại quê nhà. Gần đây, Phó chủ tịch hãng sản xuất huyết tương Shanghai RAAS Blood Products gây chú ý khi nhận nuôi 23 người con của ca sỹ Phi Nhung.
Mặc dù vị thế không còn như trước, nhưng ông Hoàng Kiều khẳng định các khoản nợ không ảnh hưởng đến thủ tục xin hỗ trợ con nuôi Phi Nhung. Ông bày tỏ: “Tôi có ý định đưa các bé qua Mỹ sau khi đã học xong ở Việt Nam để có đủ điều kiện đi du học. Và tôi sẽ xin cho các bé đi qua Mỹ du học. Du học xong, chúng tôi sẽ làm thủ tục để các bé ở lại và làm việc cho công ty chúng tôi”.

Đáng chú ý, nam doanh nhân cho biết các con ruột của mình không có ý kiến về việc này, nhưng ông vẫn luôn dặn dò các con hiếu thuận, không đấu đá lẫn nhau vì khối tài sản của cha.
Ông Hoàng Kiều nói: “Thật ra các con tôi chẳng có ý kiến gì vì đó là quyết định của tôi. Tôi bảo các con tôi, người nào có phần nấy, không được tranh giành sau khi tôi ra đi vì nếu làm như vậy thì ba rất buồn”.
