Khủng hoảng của giới giải trí Indonesia

Các nhà làm phim Indonesia đã gửi thư cho Tổng thống Joko Widodo, yêu cầu ông giúp vực dậy ngành công nghiệp điện ảnh.

Theo Guardian, làn sóng Covid-19 đang leo thang ở Indonesia. Nguyên nhân chủ yếu là biến thể Delta lây lan nhanh. Đến ngày 17/7, Indonesia ghi nhận số ca nhiễm trong ngày nhiều hơn cả Ấn Độ, trở thành vùng dịch lớn nhất châu Á.

Chưa kể đảo quốc này có 56.757 trường hợp dương tính với SARS-CoV-2 chỉ trong 24h, vượt Brazil và trở thành quốc gia có số bệnh nhân Covid-19 mới nhiều nhất thế giới.

Indonesia đối mặt hiện thực đau lòng ở bất kỳ khía cạnh nào. Với lĩnh vực giải trí, nhất là điện ảnh, tâm chấn Covid-19 đã và đang gây ra hậu quả lớn.

Rạp chiếu đóng cửa, doanh thu sụt giảm

Ngày 12/7, tờ Kompas đưa tin hệ thống CGV Cinemas ở Indonesia phải đóng cửa đến hết 20/7, hoặc cho đến khi có thông báo mới từ chính phủ và chính quyền khu vực.

Có tất cả 47 rạp CGV đặt tại Bandung, Cikarang, Depok, Purwokerto, Karawang, Jakarta, Surabaya… và 14 khu vực khác. Trong thời gian ngừng hoạt động, các rạp sẽ sắp lại lịch chiếu cũng như bảo trì hệ thống và cơ sở vật chất.

Hệ thống cụm rạp khác ở thành phố Tangerang, đảo Java cũng xác nhận dừng tiếp khách từ ngày 15/6. Tình hình dịch Covid-19 chuyển biến khó lường khiến hoạt động phim ảnh đóng băng.

Một làn sóng thịnh hành trên Twitter với nhiều bức thư do người dân Indonesia viết về việc Rajawali Purwokerto – rạp phim đã hoạt động hơn 40 năm, cuối cùng cũng chịu chung số phận.

Thống kê trên CNBC Indonesia cho thấy giới phim của đảo quốc châu Á phải chịu tổn thất nghiêm trọng.

Giữ vị thế hàng đầu trên thị trường phim ảnh Indonesia, PT Graha Layar Prima Tbk (BLTZ) – công ty phát hành phim điện ảnh của CGV Cinemas – lỗ khổng lồ hơn 445,83 tỷ IDR. Việc đóng cửa rạp chiếu năm 2020 khiến doanh thu công ty giảm 81,91% so với năm 2019.

Đến quý I/2021 cũng không nhiều khác biệt. Doanh thu BLTZ vẫn giảm mạnh, xuống còn 27,33 tỷ IDR, quá ít so với cùng kỳ năm ngoái.

Tờ JawaPos đưa tin hiện trạng suy giảm lượng khác đến rạp, đặc biệt đối với các phim của Indonesia trong thời dịch, lên đến 97% – con số chưa từng có trong lịch sử điện ảnh nước này.

“Có 129 phim Indonesia ra mắt ở rạp với tổng 52 triệu người xem toàn quốc năm 2019. Nhưng số liệu gần đây chỉ khoảng 9 bộ phim, và lượng khán giả thấp kỷ lục, chỉ 400.000 người” – tờ báo viết.

Nhà làm phim Joko Anwar nói rằng có ít nhất 30 bộ phim phải dừng quay, hoặc hủy luôn lịch ghi hình vì đại dịch Covid-19 năm 2020, và con số năm nay đã hơn như thế nhiều.

Thực tế đáng báo động dấy lên mối lo ngại cho các doanh nghiệp và nhà làm phim trong năm 2021, khi ngành điện ảnh Indonesia đang đứng trước nguy cơ rơi tự do.

Thị trường trực tuyến lên ngôi

Theo Kompas, ứng dụng trực tuyến OTT lên ngôi góp phần cải thiện nền công nghiệp phim ảnh toàn cầu. Đó là lý do một số nhà làm phim tích cực chuyển sang các nền tảng Netflix, Amazon Prime và YouTube.

Những bộ phim điện ảnh chiếu trên OTT tăng doanh thu 26% năm 2020 ở Indonesia. Điều đó phản ánh khó khăn của ngành công nghiệp truyền thông và giải trí thực sự không đều. Phân khúc bị ảnh hưởng nhiều nhất là nhạc sống, rạp chiếu phim và triển lãm thương mại.

Giới chuyên gia dự đoán xu hướng này tiếp tục tăng vài năm mới. Về định giá, nó sẽ tăng gần gấp đôi, từ 46,4 tỷ USD (2019) lên 86,8 tỷ USD (2024).

Trong buổi phỏng vấn ngày 7/7, Manoj Punjabi – ông chủ MD Pictures – tuyên bố: “Một cuộc cách mạng kỹ thuật số đã xảy ra và đang diễn ra ở Indonesia”.

Manoj nói lượng người xem của nền tảng trực tuyến tăng vọt bởi có rất nhiều phim phát sóng dưới hình thức OTT từ 2020 đến nay. Thậm chí, một số phim lớn do MD thực hiện vốn được dành cho các rạp chiếu phim, cuối cùng đã được ra mắt trên nền tảng trực tuyến.

“OTT không mang lại nhiều lợi nhuận như rạp chiếu, nhưng nó có mô hình kinh doanh riêng. Chúng tôi chỉ cần điều chỉnh ngân sách sản xuất của mình”, Salman Aristo – đạo diễn và biên kịch phim Verses of Love phát biểu.

Quan điểm này cũng được đưa ra mổ xẻ tại cuộc họp trực tuyến Talk on Indonesia: Phim Indonesia do Đại sứ quán Indonesia tại London, Anh tổ chức. Chuyên gia Ekky Imanjaya của Đại học BINUS, đã chia sẻ giải pháp: “Đại sứ quán Indonesia tại London có thể giúp kết nối phim Indonesia với các dịch vụ OTT ở Anh và châu Âu, cũng như tập hợp nhà sản xuất Indonesia với công ty phân phối phim nước ngoài để họ quan tâm hơn đến phim Indonesia”.

Liên hoan phim Indonesia 2021 (FFI) cân nhắc đưa các tác phẩm chiếu trên OTT vào danh sách đề cử bởi sự phát triển lớn mạnh của nền tảng này, theo Jawapos đưa tin.

Những phim góp mặt trong liên hoan phim được yêu cầu phải có tem kiểm duyệt, Do vậy, chủ tịch liên hoan phim là ông Reza Rahadian và ê-kíp đã hứa sẽ giúp đỡ các bộ phim OTT đạt được chứng chỉ vượt qua kiểm duyệt.

Những tranh luận không hồi kết

Dịch vụ OTT lên ngôi có thể là tia hy vọng hiếm hoi giữa bối cảnh ngành công nghiệp phim ảnh Indonesia đang bị đóng băng. Tuy nhiên, đối với những nhà làm phim lâu năm, nó vẫn không thể thay thế hình thức chiếu rạp truyền thống.

Theo nhiều nghiên cứu quốc tế do Jawapos công bố, rạp chiếu vẫn được xem là tương đối an toàn so với các dịch vụ công cộng (như nhà hàng) giữa thời dịch Covid-19.

Giảng viên của Johns Hopkins Medicine – bà Jade Flinn – nhận định rạp chiếu an toàn hơn vì không ai nói chuyện và khán giả quay mặt về cùng một hướng. Điều đó sẽ giảm thiểu sự lây lan của virus.

Đồng quan điểm, giáo sư Budi Haryanto, trưởng nhóm đặc nhiệm kiểm soát Covid-19 từ Hiệp hội các chuyên gia y tế công cộng Indonesia (IAKMI), nhấn mạnh rằng nguy cơ lây nhiễm nCoV tại các rạp là rất nhỏ.

Thực tế thì các cuộc tranh cãi vẫn tiếp diễn. Một số nhận định cho rằng quan điểm trên là chủ quan đối với tình hình dịch đang ngày càng nguy hiểm khi biến chủng Delta có thể lây qua không khí.

Đứng ngoài những ý kiến đó, nhà sản xuất Shanty Hẩmyn tập trung kêu cứu cho ngành điện ảnh. Ông cho rằng các phim Indonesia ngoài việc đóng khoản thuế khổng lồ, nó còn là bộ mặt của quốc gia trong mắt thế giới.

“Về tiềm năng, điện ảnh Indonesia với sự đa dạng văn hóa và nhu cầu xem phim rạp của người dân là rất lớn. Do đó, không thể bỏ mặc được”, Shanty chia sẻ.

Hồi tháng 3, giới làm phim của đảo quốc công bố bức thư ngỏ gửi Tổng thống Joko Widodo, yêu cầu ông ủng hộ và giúp vực dậy màn ảnh rộng.

Nội dung thư nhanh chóng lan truyền với tốc độ chóng mặt sau khi nhiều nhân vật điện ảnh, chẳng hạn như Hanung Bramantyo, Mira Lesmana, Joko Anwar, Ernest Prakasa, Mawar Eva De Jong, Syakir Daulay, Zaskia Adya Mecca, Dian Sastrowardoyo và Adipati Dolken, đã đăng nó trên tài khoản cá nhân.

Trong thư viết: “Bước sang năm 2 đại dịch, điện ảnh quốc gia vẫn gặp khó khăn. Các rạp chiếu phim đã mở cửa trở lại (trước khi có lệnh đóng cửa gần đây), nhưng công chúng không thực sự hào hứng đến rạp vì lo ngại virus corona lây lan”.
