Nguyễn Hoàng Việt từng du học Hàn Quốc ngành Nhân học – chuyên ngành Chính trị Bắc Hàn, sau khi ra trường, Việt từng làm việc cho Bộ ngoại giao Hàn Quốc; nhưng vì quá yêu cái đẹp, cậu đã bỏ ngang, cùng bạn bè mở Vagabond.

“Tôi rất yêu cái đẹp và thích trang trí tỉ mẩn cho những thứ nhỏ xinh, như những chiếc bánh kem hoặc mousse. Cách đây 3 năm, tôi gặp Sơn trong một lớp học chụp ảnh, sau đó cả hai chơi với nhau và phát hiện ra là đứa nào cũng mê làm bánh đẹp, thế nên chúng tôi hùn vốn, mỗi người khoảng hơn 20 triệu đồng, để mở tiệm The Vagabond Bakery trên Facebook. Lúc đó, chúng tôi chỉ nghĩ là ‘làm cho vui’, nhưng không ngờ càng làm càng mê và đi cùng nhau đến tận bây giờ.

“Đáng lẽ, cửa hàng ở Đặng Dung có thể kê 15 bàn, nhưng chúng tôi chỉ kê 10 bàn, vì muốn khách hàng có không gian thoải mái gặp gỡ, trò chuyện. Ngày khai trương, chúng tôi hoàn toàn bất ngờ khi khách hàng xếp hàng rồng rắn để mua bánh; không những thế, vì không có chỗ ngồi, nhiều khách còn mua bánh ra đứng bên cạnh xe máy và ô tô của mình… rồi ăn. Thế nên, tôi đã rất cảm động và cảm thấy mình phải có trách nhiệm phục vụ khách hàng tốt hơn nữa“, Việt hồi tưởng.
