Hồi tháng 7, chính phủ Ấn Độ tuyên bố sẽ trợ cấp cho mỗi trẻ mồ côi về lương thực và giáo dục. Thủ tướng Narendra Modi thề sẽ “đảm bảo những đứa trẻ được giáo dục đàng hoàng và có cơ hội tương lai”. Riêng tại Maharashtra, chính quyền bang đã thành lập một lực lượng đặc nhiệm để bảo vệ trẻ em mồ côi do Covid-19 khỏi nạn buôn người. Lực lượng này cũng sẽ cung cấp các cơ sở chăm sóc cho trẻ em mồ côi và hỗ trợ về pháp lý cho các em trong việc xử lý tài sản của cha mẹ để lại.
