Bankman-Fried sở hữu khối tài sản hàng chục tỷ USD nhưng vẫn ở nhà thuê, ăn chay, mặc áo phông quần short đi làm. CEO 9X này là một trong những cá nhân đóng góp nhiều nhất cho chiến dịch tranh cử Tổng thống Mỹ của ông Joe Biden.

Theo Forbes, Bankman-Fried là tỷ phú dưới 30 tuổi giàu nhất thế giới hiện nay với khối tài sản trị giá 26,5 tỷ USD. Sinh năm 1992, anh là nhà sáng lập và CEO sàn giao dịch tiền điện tử FTX.

1. Là người dưới 30 tuổi giàu thứ hai trong lịch sử

Không chỉ là tỷ phú dưới 30 tuổi giàu có nhất hiện nay, Bankman-Fried còn là người dưới 30 tuổi giàu thứ hai trong lịch sử. Trước đó, Mark Zuckerberg – đồng sáng lập và CEO Facebook – từng sở hữu khối tài sản 28,5 tỷ USD ở tuổi 29. 

2. Công ty của Bankman-Fried được định giá 25 tỷ USD chỉ sau 2,5 năm thành lập

Thành công đến với Bankman-Fried khá nhanh. Anh sáng lập FTX chỉ 2,5 năm trước và phát triển nó thành một trong những sàn giao dịch tiền điện tử hàng đầu thế giới. Hôm 21/10, FTX thông báo huy động thành công thêm 421 triệu USD, đưa giá trị của công ty lên mức 25 tỷ USD. 

3. Học chuyên ngành vật lý và từng muốn theo đuổi sự nghiệp học thuật

Theo Nikkei, Bankman-Fried sinh ra trong một gia đình có cha mẹ là giáo sư Trường Luật Stanford. Anh tốt nghiệp Học viện Công nghệ Massachusetts với chuyên ngành vật lý và ban đầu muốn theo đuổi sự nghiệp học thuật. 

4. Chịu ảnh hưởng từ phong trào “Effective Altruism”

Từng muốn theo đuổi sự nghiệp học thuật nhưng “Effective Altruism” – phong trào “lòng vị tha hiệu quả” đã tác động đến Bankman-Fried. Đây là một triết lý từ thiện khuyến khích mọi người tối đa hóa tác động của các khoản đóng góp của mình thông qua việc sử dụng dữ liệu. Điều này đã thúc đẩy Bankman-Fried làm việc trong lĩnh vực tài chính với nỗ lực kiếm tiền nhanh chóng và sau đó quyên góp cho các tổ chức từ thiện. 

5. Từng không hiểu gì về tiền điện tử và Blockchain

Trong 3 năm làm “trader” tại Jane Street, tổ chức tài chính ở Phố Wall, Bankman-Fried đã phát triển những mô hình để phân tích lợi nhuận từ các khoản quyên góp cá nhân. Năm 2017, Bankman-Fried quyết định thành lập công ty giao dịch tiền điện tử Alameda Research khi nhìn thấy cơ hội của thị trường mới này.
“Ban đầu tôi chẳng biết gì về tiền mã hóa, thậm chí chẳng hiểu Blockchain là gì. Tuy nhiên, khi tham gia vào thì tôi nắm bắt mọi thứ khá nhanh”, Bankman-Fried kể lại. 

6. Sống giản dị dù vô cùng giàu có

Sở hữu khối tài sản hàng chục tỷ USD nhưng Bankman-Fried có lối sống giản dị như nhiều chàng trai dưới 30 tuổi khác. Theo Nikkei, CEO 29 tuổi này vẫn ăn chay, ở chung phòng với bạn, mặc áo phông và quần short đi làm và thường ngủ qua đêm ở văn phòng. 

7. Ủng hộ hơn 5 triệu USD cho chiến dịch tranh cử Tổng thống Mỹ của ông Joe Biden

Bankman-Fried thu hút sự quan tâm của truyền thông thế giới trong cuộc bầu cử Tổng thống Mỹ năm ngoái khi quyên góp 5,2 triệu USD cho chiến dịch tranh cử của chính trị gia Joe Biden – người đứng đầu Nhà Trắng hiện nay.
9X này cũng là một trong những cá nhân đóng góp nhiều nhất cho chiến dịch tranh cử của ông Joe Biden. 

8. Lần đầu vào Forbes 400 đã xếp ở vị trí 32

Đầu tháng 10, Forbes công bố danh sách 400 người giàu nhất nước Mỹ năm 2021 (Forbes 400) với tài sản tính đến ngày 3/9. Với khối tài sản 22,5 tỷ USD được ước tính vào thời điểm đó, Bankman-Fried lần đầu tiên có mặt trong Forbes 400 và xếp ở vị trí 32.
