Theo danh sách tỷ phú toàn cầu 2020 của Tập đoàn xuất bản có trụ sở tại Thượng Hải (Trung Quốc) Hurun Report, so với 5 năm trước, tổng số tỷ phú trên thế giới là 2.816 người, tăng 346 người so với 5 năm trước (tương đương tăng 66%). Ước tính, tổng tài sản của những ông lớn này khoảng 11,2 nghìn tỷ USD.
Trong số đó, Mỹ và Trung Quốc là hai nước có hơn một nửa tỷ phú trên hành tinh với con số lần lượt là 626 và 799 người.
Nhà sáng lập Amazon Jeff Bezos giành vị trí số 1 trong danh sách này với khối tài sản trị giá 140 tỷ USD, tiếp theo là Bernard Arnault và Bill Gates với khối tài sản lần lượt là 107 và 106 tỷ USD. Trong khi đó, người sáng lập của Alibaba, Jack Ma, chiếm vị trí đầu bảng trong số các tỷ phú Trung Quốc với tổng tài sản 45 tỷ USD, đứng thứ 21 trong danh sách toàn cầu.
Danh sách năm nay có 90 tỷ phú từ 40 tuổi trở xuống (tăng 5 người so với năm ngoái), 54 tỷ phú tự thân và 36 tỷ phú do được thừa kế tài sản.
Cũng theo Hurun Report, lĩnh vực công nghệ, truyền thông và viễn thông (TMT) là nguồn tài sản chính của các tỷ phú thế giới, tạo ra 18% tổng tài sản.
