Thị trường chứng khoán Mỹ giảm điểm trong phiên giao dịch ngày thứ Hai (19/4), trượt khỏi mức kỷ lục thiết lập vào tuần trước, trong lúc nhà đâu tư chờ những báo cáo kết quả kinh doanh quý 1/2021 tiếp theo. Cổ phiếu Tesla sụt giảm phiên này sau một vụ tai nạn chết người liên quan đến xe do hãng sản xuất.
Theo tin từ Reuters, cổ phiếu Tesla trượt 3,4% sau khi một chiếc xe Tesla – được cho là vận hành mà không có người ngồi ở ghế lái – đâm vào một cái cây ở Houston vào hôm thứ Bảy vừa rồi, khiến 2 người ngồi ghế sau thiệt mạng. CEO Elon Musk của Tesla nói rằng hệ thống lái tự động của chiếc xe không liên quan gì đến vụ tai nạn này, và vụ việc hiện đang được nhà chức trách điều tra.
Dù sao, Tesla la cổ phiếu gây áp lực giảm lớn nhất lên hai chỉ số S&P 500 và Nasdaq. Ngoài ra, cú giảm giá tiền ảo Bitcoin vào cuối tuần vưa rồi cũng tạo sức ép lên giá cổ phiếu Tesla, bởi công ty này từng tiết lộ rót 1,5 tỷ USD mua Bitcoin.
Nhiều cổ phiếu công nghệ lớn như Microsoft, Amazon và Nvidia cũng giảm, kéo S&P 500 đi xuống.
Giới đầu tư và phân tích đang chờ loạt báo cáo kết quả kinh doanh quý đầu năm dự kiến công bố trong tuần này – tuần sẽ là giai đoạn cao điểm của mùa báo cáo. Triển vọng kinh doanh của các công ty niêm yết ở Phố Wall cho thấy rằng xu hướng tăng điểm của thị trường có thể tiếp tục. Theo dữ liệu của Refinitiv, các nhà phân tích hiện kỳ vọng lợi nhuận quý 1 tăng 30,9% so với cùng kỳ năm ngoái.
Ngoài ra, nền kinh tế Mỹ đang ở vào vị thế có thể tăng trưởng bùng nổ, bởi người tiêu dùng nước này đã tiết kiệm được thêm 2 nghìn tỷ USD kể từ khi đại dịch Covid-19 bắt đầu, theo chiến lược gia Doug Peta của BCA Research. Ông Peta cũng cho rằng thị trường đang ở trạng thái chững để nghe ngóng.
“Thực chất, thị trường vẫn đang đi lên nhưng với một tốc độ chậm. Điều này cho thấy rằng xu hướng tăng là chậm nhưng bền vững. Bất kỳ một sự giảm nào trong quá trình đó cũng là giảm lành mạnh”, ông Peta nói.
Trong số 11 nhóm cổ phiếu ngành chính của S&P 500, duy nhất chỉ có nhóm bất động sản tăng trong phiên này.
Cổ phiếu Nvidia giảm 3,5% sau khi Chính phủ Anh tuyên bố sẽ xem xét ảnh hưởng an ninh quốc gia của việc Nvidia mua hãng thiết kế chip Anh ARM Holdings. Tuyên bố này đặt ra câu hỏi đối với triển vọng của thỏa thuận 40 tỷ USD.
Loạt cổ phiếu tiền ảo như Riot Blockchain và Marathon Digital đồng loạt giảm mạnh, với mức giảm hơn 8% mỗi cổ phiếu này, do giá Bitcoin sụt giảm vào cuối tuần.
Lúc đóng cửa, chỉ số Dow Jones hạ 0,36%, còn 34.077,63 điểm. S&P 500 giảm 0,53%, còn 4.163,26 điểm. Nasdaq sụt 0,98%, còn 13.914,77 điểm.
Toàn thị trường có 9,86 tỷ cổ phiếu được chuyển nhượng thành công.
Gần đây, việc lợi suất trái phiếu kho bạc Mỹ kỳ hạn 10 năm giảm khỏi đỉnh của 14 tháng đã mở đường cho sự hồi phục của cổ phiếu công nghệ – nhóm đã tăng cao trong năm ngoái và sụt giảm vào đầu năm nay. Cùng với đó, các dữ liệu khả quan về kinh tế Mỹ góp phần đưa S&P 500 và Dow Jones lên những mức kỷ lục mới.
Tính đến tuần trước, S&P 500 đã có 4 tuần tăng liên tiếp, chuỗi tuần tăng dài nhất kể từ tháng 8/2020.
